A Workshop offered by Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies under Theme B ‘Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Concepts & Practice in Academia’

Microaggressions — subtle, often unconscious actions rooted in discrimination—affect us all, whether we’re on the giving or receiving end. In diverse settings like academia, recognizing and addressing these behaviors is key to creating inclusive environments. This interactive workshop explores microaggressions in personal and professional contexts, offering tools to identify, respond to, and prevent them. Through case studies and discussions, participants will enhance their cultural awareness, refine empathetic communication, and develop strategies for more respectful cross-cultural interactions.
